Cornerstone Baptist Church was started in February of 1994 by the founding and current Senior pastor, Tom Walz. After pastoring two other churches for nearly 17 years, pastor Tom and his wife Ruth Ann and their nine year old son came to Logan to begin a fundamental independent Baptist Church. The Walz's have three children who are each involved in Christian ministry. Jim, who is married to Renee and has three children, serves has staff Pastor and Children's Ministry Director at Cornerstone. Renee serves in the children's ministry and as church secretary. Tom and Ruth's Walz's daughter, Julie, is married to Jeremy Griffith. They have four children. Together they have planted a church in Washington Court House, Ohio, called Anchor Baptist. The Walz's youngest son, John, is married to Alisha.
The church is located on 5 1/3 beautiful acres, which was donated to the church by the McCort family. Starting in the earliest beginning in the basement of the National City bank, the congregation now enjoys it's new facilities, which were constructed mostly by donated labor from its members. The building facilities were completed in 2005 debt free. New plans are being made for the next phase that will add additional class rooms, a fellowship hall, offices and a multi-purpose gym. Cornerstone owns and operates twenty-four hours, seven days a week a Christian Radio Station called "THE LIGHT" (106.3 FM). Cornerstone Baptist Church endeavors to make Christ known by radio air ways and through preaching, teaching and discipling. Every effort is made to win the lost, encourage the believer and to offer lasting answers and solutions to life's greatest problems. Cornerstone, a place to discover life's purpose. |
